  • Peter Baumwell

    DVM

Dr. Peter Baumwell was born and raised in New York. As a child he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a Veterinarian. He graduated from the University of Guadalajara in 1979. Following his graduation, he practiced animal medicine in New York until 1982 when he then moved to Florida. In 1988, Dr. Baumwell started his own Veterinarian practice, Central Park Animal Clinic, which grew to become Central Park Animal Hospital. He has been happily married for over 26 years and has two pampered dogs at home, "Stella" a Toy Poodle, and "Captain Sig" a Shih Tzu. . "My passion from a young age was to grow up to be a Veterinarian, like my father, and help animals of all kinds whenever I could.".

  • Dr. Janielle Vergne

    DVM

Dr. Janielle Vergne was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, following her dream of becoming a Veterinarian. Her degree in Veterinary Medicine came from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) in 2002. She is happily married and mother to two wonderful young boys. Her family does not end there though! She has three darling pooches at home, "Harley", "Waldo", and "Pancho". And a very shy cat that likes to stay out of their way!. "Being a Veterinarian was always my dream since I was a little girl. There was never a 'plan B'. I remember growing up in Puerto Rico, a small island overpopulated with stray animals, and wanting to rescue, take care of, love, and improve the life of every single one of them. My parents raised me in a home full of all kinds of pets and I even experienced many of their births. This taught me compassion, love, and respect for all kinds of life. I am thankful to my parents for these experiences - they showed me how relief of animal suffering and providing them with a good life was the one thing that would give my own life meaning.".

  • Dr. Jodi Harkavy

    DVM

Dr. Jodi Harkavy was originally born in Niles, Illinois but moved to South Florida at a young age. She attended the University of Florida and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences. She then graduated from Ross University Veterinary School with Honors in 1991. Dr. Harkavy is happily married with two girls at home. She also has her four-legged family members: "Blaze" a Golden Retriever with a sweet disposition, "Missy" a loving Bichon adopted recently, and "Jumper", the cat at home that keeps them both in check! . "One of my favorite mottos is 'If you love your career, then you never have to work a day in your life'. Working in the field of Veterinary Medicine has given me the opportunity to help pets through their illnesses, educate clients in preventative health care, and work with amazing staff. Over the past 20 years, Veterinary Medicine has changed in so many ways. Although medicine changes, and continues to advance at a rapid pace, one thing never changes.. being receptive to the needs of our clients and their loving companions.".

  • Dr. Jessica Carbonell

    DVM

Dr. Jessica Carbonell is a South Florida native, born and raised. She received a Bachelor's degree in Biology at Florida Atlantic University and then traveled north to pursue her degree in Veterinary medicine at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Carbonell is happily married with one young son, and another bump on the way! She has a full house at home, including four dogs: "Bailey", "Moka", "Sierra", and "Yonah". "The reason I chose this profession is because of my combined interest in science, medicine, and love for animals. When I was young we always had a house full of animals. I loved their intelligence and loyalty, however when they were sick or hurt I felt helpless as a child. I admired our Veterinarian for taking such good care of them and at that point I knew I wanted to do the same. Now I realize how important of a role I play in educating people on how to keep their pets healthy and comforting those when it's time to let go.".
